On the left is a custom designed overhead console for use in the TR-4.
There are several excellent features worth noting. First is the
air inlet at the rear of the unit. The whole console is an air distribution
chamber with airliner style outlets for front and rear seats. Include
also are reading lights for the pilot and co-pilot.
The two little side extensions are there to house a retractable shoulder
harness. The unit has also been designed to house an overhead
compass. |
Lastly, that overhead console needs some means of getting a useful
flow of air so John made a few minor modifications to the vertical stabilizer
before closing to include an NACA duct and an air chamber to capture and
route the air to the overhead.
(I just hope he remembered to put in a water drain as well.) Notice
also his imbedded communications antenna and electrical leads. |

Overhead(s) - shows the overhead console which in my case is housing
a speaker, 4 X air vents, 2 X panel lights, 2 X passenger reading lights,
a general interior light and a compass. |
