I
have started the process of mounting all of the components on the
firewall. So far the ground tabs, FADEC coild, oil filter mount,
gas colator, and opening for heater air.
|
|
I
have continued to mount additional components including the brake fluit
resivoir, more air boxes, heater control cables, and the oil cooler.
Below you can see the control cables for the heater boxes and holes for the FADEC wiring cables.
Finding space for everything and keeping clearance between the
components and the engine mount required constantly mounting and
removing the motor mount.

I
had mounted the engine to the engine mount and mounted it multiple
times as I located the components on the firewall. Even with my
repeated attempts to locate everything with clearance the final install
and wiring resulted in several issues I had not anticipated.

The
clearance between the back of the engine and the firewall was really
very tight. I had already added a one inch spacer to move the
engine mount forward an inch and really wish I could have gotten
another inch. I eventuall mounted a second alternator on the
vacuum pad and it barely fit. The air shroud for the oil cooler
had to be modified to allow the motor mount rarm to clear.

Skip
forward a couple of years and I have made significat changes to the
firewall and started some of the wiring. Most significant change
is the removal of the FADEC system which I sold for 10 cents on the
dollar. Support was not available for the FADEC and spare parts
were non-existant. I opted to go with the FLYEFII system which I
had started installing. Much of the visible wiring is for the
FLYEFII and for the Dynon EMS system.
The engine has been removed and taken to the shop to be torn down,
inspected, and rebuilt with new seals and gaskets. Despite having
sit for over 15 years in the heat, cold, wet and dry the engine was
still in great shape with no corrosion.

Ok, I have everything ready for the engine to be reinstalled and waiting for the engine rebuild to be completed.
