Most modern aircraft are required to have
the ability to
both communicate and receive various communications. A well
equipped aircraft will have multiple
antenna for radio
communications, navigation communications, and position reporting. My aircraft will be well equipped for radio
communications with two Com-Antenna and two Com Radios.
The Navigation will initially be performed
with GPS positioning using the 2020 Compliant GPS Antenna and Dynon
SkyView
system with moving map software. In
addition, I will have both a Transponder and ADSB Antenna compliant
with the
2020 requirements. Two Navigation
antennas were also installed in the wings but will not initially be
used.

The
initial position of the Com1 Antenna was in the Vertical
stabilizer. The black marks indicate the initial position that I
tried but the arm extensions would not fit.
|
The final installation has
the coax cable conntected to the antenna with it glassed into
place. This was done many years ago and I hope the installation
works because I was unable to test it.

The second comm antenna was
initially installed as shown above but I
later realized that I had installed it with the wrong orientation and
had to remove and change to a vertical alignment. |
The photo is turned on it's side but this shows the proper
orientation for the second comm antenna.

The Dynon GPS 2020
Compliant Antenna was clear about being mounted on the top of the
fuselage and that is where I mounted it but not without a lot of
heartburn over drilling holes in the top of the fuselage.
|
I also had a secondary GPS Antenna that I had and mounted
in the overhead console. It is not currently connected to
anything but I thought it might work as a backup.

|
The
first NAV Antenna was installed in the back side of the right wing and
the coax cable run to the fuselage. No NAV Radio is currently
installed and the antenna is not connected.
|
The second
NAV Antenna was installed in the back side of the left wing and the
coax cable run to the fuselage. No NAV Radio is currently
installed and the antenna is not connected. |

|
The
ELT (Emergeency Location Transmitter) Antenna required a large ground
plane and special mounting.
|
The
final two antenna were for the newly required ADSB and Transponder
Antenna which reqired a 12/12 inch ground plane with the short stub
antenna sticking through the bottom of the fuselage.
