Measuring the Fit of Bottom Skin
Photo 31 & 32

I put clear tape over all rib and spar surfaces, then placed little balls (~1/4”) or ‘snakes’ of modeling clay over the surfaces, covered the bottom surface with Saran Wrap, and weighted the Skin down. I then tried measuring the thickness of the clay dots, etc. I WAS UNHAPPY with this technique. I think the “stiffness” of the clay was sufficient that the skin did not go down into proper position.

After removing the clay, I made a mix of some epoxy/flox that had the consistency of what I thought the Hysol/flox would be like, and placed dollops around on suspected areas. I then laid Saran Wrap over the epoxy, and positioned the bottom skin and weighted it down. THIS WAS MUCH BETTER, as I could see much better squeezout, and had a visual ‘reference’ to how much Hysol/flox would be required.
