Elevator Idler Arm Assembly
The above figure shows the general dimensions of the idler arm assembly that I made for the elevator push rod tube. The actual arm that I made measured 4.5" from the top to the center of the pivot hole, as opposed to as shown in the drawing.
The cross bar was welded in place by a friend trying out his TIG welding outfit. I had to make 3 pieces to get the one good one. The crossbar could just as easily be riveted into place rather than welded. I will pass along a picture when the next role of film is developed.
By using the idler, installed just aft of the 139 bulkhead, the pushrod lengths are reduced to ~5 ft each, and the whole assembly is much more rigid. Requires two extra rod ends, and KS-7 bushings which I machined out of Aluminum round stock.
